Business Hosting Service Reviewed By A Real-Life Customer.

When you are trying to choose a hosting company for your website it is easy to feel overwhelmed. It is funny, but there is rather "too much" information than not enough.

The idea behind this review is that you - the reader - hopefully will benefit from the users perspective. The perspective of an actual web hosting customer. This review will focus on the one business hosting service that I feel offers the best cost to service ratio for the affiliate marketer and small business owner.

iPowerweb Business Pro Hosting - A Great Value Hosting Package

As I have already mentioned, my review of iPowerweb is written from the users perspective. At the time of writing this review I have been a customer for about one year.

I will look at 5 factors in my review of iPowerweb's hosting services.

  • Who are they? Are they for real?
  • Cost vs. value
  • Data centers and connectivity
  • Customer support
  • Control Panel

And then finally my overall summary.

Who are they? Are they for real?

The iPowerweb headquarter is located in Santa Monica, California. Their address and contact information is posted on their website. It may seem odd that I stress this in my review, but these days anyone can set up a hosting company and hide behind a pretty website.

iPowerweb claim that they have over 80 employees and more than 200,000 customers from over 150 countries. I feel it is safe to say that this is a company with a lot of substance and they score a full 5 out of 5 on the for real scale.

    Cost vs. value

iPowerwebs's most popular package - Business Pro - offers generous data storage (800 MB) as well as data transfer (40 GB/month). And for a price as low as USD 7.95 per month.

This price includes a free domain name, a marketing package to get you started plus a whole lot more. Actually, it is a REALLY great package for only USD 7.95 per month.

They also include 400 POP 3 email accounts, access to CGI-BIN, Perl Support, MySQL, PHP Support, Server Sides Includes, Frontpage 2000/2002 Extension, Web Site Statistics, Web Site Backup Software and an easy-to-use Web Hosting Control Panel (see below).

And that is not all, they also include a range of 3 shopping carts, scripts for Blogs, Online chat and even your own Guest book and Blogger.

In short, iPowerweb offers Great Value at a very modest price. I have not listed all the features they offer so please visit their website for the complete list of features and bonuses.

iPowerweb easily scores 5 out of 5 for the Cost vs. Value Factor

    Data centers and connectivity

With four Tier 1 Internet Data Centers iPowerweb are well equipped to provide you with good, secure storage and the connectivity and bandwidth you would expect from an industry-leading hosting company.

    iPowerweb Data Centers Quick Facts

  • 2 collocated data centers facilities (AT&T, Cable and Wireless)

  • 2 owned data center facilities (Los Angeles, CA, Phoenix, Arizona)

Here too - based on my own experience - I feel that iPowerweb deserves a 5 out of 5.

    Customer support

Customer support at iPowerweb has improved greatly over the last 6 months. I only use the email and Live chat support.

In my experience the representatives are knowledgeable (with a few exceptions) and always willing and eager to assist. At times I have found myself waiting 3-5 minutes for a Live chat representative to "pick up" - but overall I find their customer support to be good.

For customer support iPowerweb scores 4 out of 5. To score a perfect 5 I would have expected their phone support to match their email and Live Chat support.

    Control Panel

I find the iPowerweb vDeck control panel fairly easy to use. The offered features and functionality are more than adequate. With one exception.....

First, as I have mentioned this whole review is based on my experience - so here we go..... I have never had any problems UPLOADING multiple files (100+) to the iPowerweb servers.

But whenever I try to DOWNLOAD multiple files to my harddrive.....my FTP client freezes. iPowerweb support claims that I have faulty FTP software. I disagree as I do not have this problem with the two other hosting companies I use. Anyway, I thought I would mention it.

Maybe I should also mention that the reason I needed to DOWNLOAD files was that I lost my local backup. I know, my bad :-(

But since this is my review - and supported by the fact that I do not have this problem with other hosting companies - they loose a star. Consequently, the control panel gets a 4 out of a possible 5.
