Let's break it down. The process of writing an effective sales letter starts before you put pen to paper. Actually, one of the key ingredients have nothing to do with writing. To have success with your sales letter you need a well defined target group. For the purpose of this article we will assume you already have a great mailing list. We will even look beyond the importance of having a great headline. Instead we will look at that very first sentence - the sales letter opening. In my experience the sales letter opening makes a big difference to the success of an offer. The opening is there for one reason and one reason only. You need the recipient to read on to get to the good stuff. A great sales letter opening will not get you the sale on its own. But it will give you a shot at making that sale.
